Baldwins Intellectual Property and PricewaterhouseCoopers delivered a seminar to 85 senior executives tackling this very topical issue. Whilst creative and innovative thinking are essential tools to achieving success in business, transforming those ideas into an effective business plan that protects your commercial assets and allows you to grow is an issue that clients continually struggle with.
“It was an issue that partners from both firms recognised as a significant challenge, particularly for emerging and SME clients” says Eric Lucas, Partner at PWC.
“With the respective strengths of our firms we were able to put together a programme that would go some way to helping our clients and guests understand a little more about how to generate greater value out of their ideas” adds Wes Jones, Partner of Baldwins Intellectual Property.
The expert panel of speakers covered off a variety of challenges that provided attendees with a practical and strategic insight on taking ideas to market and capitalising on the value of the business.
Key issues covered off included, innovation vs commercialisation; intellectual property protection; tax optimisation and licensing structures/royalty rates. The forum ended with a panel discussion involving all speakers. Justin Liddell, Partner at PWC who chaired this panel comments “The panel was a great way to have an open interactive dialogue with our clients and guests to clarify some points that were raised during the course of the presentation, as well as broach some of those issues the team had not covered. It is evident that in tight economic conditions the issue of how to most effectively create value is all the more crucial.”
