Katherine joined Baldwins in 2008 as a Patent Executive in the Auckland office. Prior to joining Baldwins, she worked as an Intellectual Property Manager for a New Zealand based Agrichemical company.

Expertise

Katherine’s technical expertise covers the fields of chemistry and biotechnology including human and veterinary pharmaceuticals. Her post graduate research investigated routes for the chemical synthesis of naturally occurring marine toxins. Her Post Doctoral Research at the University of Auckland was a collaboration between the Organic Chemistry and Wine Science departments, making deuterium labelled compounds for use as internal standards for accurate quantification of the naturally occurring favour compounds.

Working primarily in the field of patents, Katherine has experience in drafting patent specifications, prosecuting applications, patent oppositions and advising local and international clients on patentability issues.
